Ice Dams
The current weather conditions will produce some situations where water will be leaking around window, door and other openings in a structures walls even though there is no evidence of water on the exterior surface.
RJT Industries undoubtedly receives phone calls about leaking windows when it is not raining. Often this is a symptom of ice damming. This situation occurs when there has been a heavy snowfall followed by very cold temperatures. It can manifest itself in leaks around window openings. The source of the water is actually from the roof/attic that penetrates into the wall cavities and flows down the studding to a window opening. The primary question to ask is if the leak was there when it rained? If not then the source is likely not the sealants or seals of the window.
